Subject 11 by Jeffrey Thomas
(DarkFuse)
Welcome to the Subject 11 project.
We are currently seeking 10 individuals to participate in a research study. Participants shall receive a sum to be discussed during initial telephone interview. Interested parties should email us via our contact page, subject11.webs.com, providing their telephone number and a brief biography of approximately 100 words, describing themselves in terms of gender, age, race, and occupation if any.
The study will take place in a series of abandoned buildings rented for this purpose.
Note: subjects involved in this test may find themselves experiencing certain psychological distortions. They may experience lapses in memory regarding others and themselves. Subjects may even forget how long this test is supposed to go on for. And please disregard any additional people you may feel you’ve sighted in the complex, beyond those in the test group.
We thank you for your interest in our research.
Wow….Jeffrey Thomas really blew me away with “Subject 11″. It is a masterfully written tale that will leave you disjointed, uttering to yourself…”What the hell just happened?”.
For $4,000.00 a group of ten people( five women and five men) agree to be test subjects. Seems like a basic premise at first…but that is where Jeff grabs you by the throat and throws into the rabbit hole that you can never quite escape from.
First off, you never learn the names of any of the characters, they are only referred to as their numbers in the experiment. A risky move to be sure, but one that Jeff is able to pull off beautifully. The characters are fully developed, each given their own unique voice in the story.
The atmosphere of the story is desolate and frightening, Jeff twists reality around until you are not sure if you are coming or going. The building (s) in which the experiment is conducted have a life all their own and believe me, you would not want to be there.
This book will mess with your mind, and you will feel that you have left a bit of your sanity behind after you finish.
When I got to the end, and the ending was fantastic, I put the book down thinking to myself…”What the *&$% was that!!??” I literally was out of breath, all my energy spent…the effect is palpable and unnerving. I loved every second of it. If a story doesn’t move me in some way…what’s the point of reading it.
Do yourself a favor and use the links above to get “Subject 11″, it is right at the top of my list for best story so far this year. You will not be disappointed and I give it my highest recommendation.

So very gratified you enjoyed it. “It is right at the top of my list for best story so far this year.” Dr. Once smiles upon you.
