Tim Waggoner’s “The Harmony Society” is an absolute mind bending roller coaster ride of a story that never lets up and never lets you feel quite comfortable in knowing what is going to happen next…because you never know what is going to happen next or if what happens next is even reality.
Tim kept me guessing throughout the story, twisting and turning things around enough to literally make my head spin. Just when I thought I had figured things out Tim would throw another curve ball in to the mix and leave me with my head shaking, thinking to myself, “What the hell just happened?”
Nathan Bennett at first seems to be a typical person, a college professor, married, awaiting the birth of his first child with his wife, but is that really Nathan’s reality?
Or is Nathan’s reality the life he leads in his nightmares, searching for The Dark Angel along the Nightway? You to will begin to wonder what is real and what is not as Tim guides you along a dark path through the seemingly decaying mind of Nathan Bennett.
“The Harmony Society” is a brilliant excursion into a frightening and surreal “unreality” that blurs the lines between what we think we believe, with what we don’t want to believe. That there could be other realities overlapping ours and is ours the true reality? Makes the head spin just thinking about it.
Tim’s prose is lean, frightening, disconcerting and beautifully written. The story never lags and from the very first page you know that you are reading something special.
“The Harmony Society” ranks right up there with the best I have read in a long time, it is that good, and I give it my highest recommendation.
