What I Love To Watch On Halloween

I know, I know, what are movies doing on a horror fiction site.  Well, sometimes we just have to put our books down and get our frights from another medium. Since this is the Halloween season, what better way to fill in some fright-tastic hours than a good scare-a-thon. So I humbly present to you my top ten favorite things to watch  during the Halloween season.

#1.  Dracula (1931) – “There are far worse things awaiting man than death”.  Bela in his iconic role as the king of vampires; Dracula. Halloween just doesn’t feel like Halloween without the Undead Count.

#2. Halloween – This is what supposedly started the slasher flick craze. I for one, do not consider this a slasher flick. There is barely any blood. Camera angles, music and atmosphere is what sets Halloween apart from all the rest.

#3.  It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown – The Peanuts gang in a Halloween favorite. “I got a rock”. Classic cartoon that never gets old.

#4. The Wizard Of Oz – A green witch dressed in black with a broom and flying monkeys, need I say more.

#5. The Night Of The Living Dead – George Romero’s zombie classic always brings a chill whenever I watch it. I remember vividly seeing this at a midnight showing when I was 12 years old. Needless to say, a few sleepless nights followed.

#6. Spaced Invaders – A group of inept aliens get lost and land on earth on Halloween night. One liners galore, I love this movie.

#7. Horror Of Dracula – Christopher Lee’s first film donning the cape and what a wondrous movie this is. Add in Peter Cushing as Van Helsing, a bowl of buttery popcorn and you have Halloween bliss.

.

#8. House on Haunted Hill – Would you stay in a haunted house overnight for $10,000.00? Vincent Price as Frederick Loren finds five strangers who will…then the fun really begins.

.

#9. Phantasm – A creepy funeral home director, a flying ball with spikes and a drill…delicious fun.

.

#10. Dark Night Of The Scarecrow – This classic came out in 1981 and is one of the best made for TV horror movies ever.
